Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Must Address Winston’s Forgotten Storyline After Ignoring It For So Long

Grey's Anatomy season 21 might finally be the season that addresses one forgotten Winston storyline. Winston Ndugu, played by Anthony Hill, is the Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Grey's Anatomy. Hill joined the Grey's Anatomy cast in season 16 and has been a series regular since, engaging in romantic and personal relationships with the other characters and developing several personal storylines as well. Winston's storylines in season 20 have been the most exciting yet.

Since joining the cast, Hill's Winston has played a major role in the lives of those at Grey Sloan Memorial. While Winston has only been a character on Grey's Anatomy for a few years, he does have a history with other Grey's Anatomy characters that precedes his time at Grey Sloan Memorial. He has been a part of several storylines over the years, but one storyline seems to have been pushed to the side. Grey's Anatomy season 21 might be the season that finally gives his character closure.

Grey's Anatomy's Winston and Maggie have been having relationship troubles these past few seasons, but the show has not been clear regarding their current relationship status. Winston and Maggie got married in season 17, after only dating for about a year. Shortly after, in season 19, Maggie moved to Chicago to pursue her career, while Winston stayed behind in Seattle to pursue his own career. The two had been doing long-distance since, but season 20 seemed to put an end to things.

Sadly, Grey's Anatomy season 20, episode 5 revealed that Maggie had served Winston divorce papers. The latest season also revealed Winston taking off his wedding band in a heartbreaking scene. Season 21 should address Winston and Maggie's upcoming divorce to give both characters closure. Whether or not the divorce will be finalized in season 21, that closure will allow the characters to come to terms with their relationship and allow them to move forward.

Resolving Maggie & Winston's Relationship Mystery Opens New Stories For Grey's Anatomy Season 21

A New Love Triangle Has Already Been Introduced In Season 20

It would be nice to see a concrete resolution to Maggie and Winston's relationship because it would free them up for new storylines in Grey's Anatomy season 21. Season 20 already introduced a plot twist when the show revealed Winston kissing Monica Beltran after both characters complained about their own relationship struggles. The twist is made even more shocking after Monica had previously been flirting with Amelia. The resolution to Maggie and Winston's relationship would open up the door to explore the love triangle that season 20 opened.
