Grey’s Anatomy has cast Supergirl star Floriana Lima in a major role.
The show is due to return for season 21 later this month, with Lima’s character Nora set to debut on October 3 as her character arrives at Grey Sloan when a routine operation at another hospital creates complications.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nora is a childhood friend of Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and is a devoted mum and recent divorcée. She is driven to survive for her kids as well as to see what her next chapter holds – though this proves a challenge.

Lima previously played the role of Maggie Sawyer on Supergirl, and has also appeared in A Million Little Things, The Punisher and Quantum Leap.
The news comes after it was recently confirmed that Natalie Morales will return to Grey’s Anatomy as Dr Monica Beltran in season 21 alongside Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Scott Speedman as Nick Marsh and Kali Rocha as Dr Sydney Heron.
Jo Wilson actor Camilla Luddington teased the new episodes back in August, admitting that the scripts left her “shooketh”.

"I woke up this morning, scrolled through my phone and there it was, sitting in my inbox, the premier episode script of Grey's Anatomy season 21," she told the Call It What It Is podcast.
"And you know what's so funny and you know this, Jess, we never know what's going to happen. We are not given a heads-up, so I was reading the script in bed this morning and I was shooketh."
Ahead of the season premiere, the show recently released a fun behind-the-scenes video, which features Atticus Lincoln actor Chris Carmack in denim hotpants.
